DARRIL’S CHARITABLE HAT TRICK

Welcome to the Promenade Dental Practice – the only NHS & Denplan Dental Practice in Mumbles.

Our ground floor base in the heart of Mumbles, right on the seafront, combines convenience and accessibility with pleasant, modern surroundings.

Darril Williams, Promenade Dental’s principal dentist, has a long history of sporting success having played rugby and cricket to a high level in his youth. And this summer he put his passion for sport and fitness to good use, competing in three events to raise money for charity.

In June Darril joined the Jaspers Rainbow team in a 160-mile challenge that saw 42 teams run in relay from the Twickenham rugby ground to Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Part of a team of 12, he ran 13 miles with the team finishing 27th and raising thousands of pounds for a number of neo-natal charities. It was the longest point-to-point, non-stop running relay to take place in the UK to date.

Then, at the end of August, he dusted off his cricket whites to play in a memorial game at Pontarddulais Cricket Club, his old club. Darril joined other ex-players to commemorate two former players, Barry Lloyd and Jamie Bishop.

“Both Barry and Jamie made significant contributions to the club so it was a fitting opportunity to not only show our appreciation but generate funds for two causes close to their families’ hearts,” said Darril.

Ty Hafan and Garngoch Day Centre each received £2.5k from a day that was both moving and great fun.

And in September Darril rounded off his summer of charitable giving by taking part in the Gower MacMarathon, joining forces with teachers from Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr (the Welsh-speaking secondary school in Gowerton).

The 22-mile Gower coast walk raised money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
