What Are Dental implants?

Dental implants offer one of the most effective and long lasting ways to replace one or more missing teeth, providing a fixed alternative to removable dentures. They work by setting a small metal screw into the jaw, and once established, it is fixed onto the implant, creating stable and natural-looking results.

Signs you need a Dental Implant

Dental implants can restore function to your mouth and give you a natural-looking smile. They are durable and can last for many years.

Missing teeth

Missing teeth can lead to bone loss, shifting teeth, and difficulty chewing. They can also make you self-conscious about your smile

Loose or ill-fitting dentures

Loose dentures can be a sign that dental implants could be a good option.

pain or discomfort

Persistent pain or discomfort, especially while chewing, could be a sign that you need dental implants.

Dental implant fitting Process

The entire dental implant process can take 6 to 12 months, and may involve multiple visits to the dentist.

1. Consultation

We’ll perform an oral exam, discuss treatment options, and answer questions.

4. Osseointegration

We then wait for the jawbone to grow into and join with the surface of the implant. This can take several months.

2. Planning

We’ll then take a series of scans and photographs, and a CBCT radiograph will be taken to create a virtual image of your teeth, gums, and jaw.

5. Attachment of the abutment

The abutment is usually attached to the implant body with a screw and extends into the mouth to support the artificial teeth.

3. Surgery

Next, we’ll undertake the surgery and insert the implant.

Aftercare

After the implants are placed, you may experience some swelling, bruising, pain, and minor bleeding. Sometimes, we may recommend over-the-counter pain medication, and you may be advised to eat soft foods.
